Rabbi Jordan Goldson recently assumed his position as spiritual leader of Temple B’nai Israel. Rabbi Jordan's spirituality and his gentle caring manner have already endeared him to our community. He is known for his creativity and visionary leadership in the Jewish community. In addition to leading services, Rabbi Jordan is a strong presence in almost every aspect of congregational life. He teaches both children and adults, participates on committees, counsels and conducts life-cycle events. Rabbi Jordan is also active in the wider community and enjoys working with other clergy and lay people to make our world a better place.
Rabbi Jordan grew up in Smithtown, New York. After earning a B.A. in Philosophy from Tulane University in 1981, he studied at the Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem, in Los Angeles and in New York where he was ordained in 1987. Rabbi Jordan's first pulpit was at Temple B’nai Tikvah in Calgary, Canada where he served for 12 years. During that time, he served as the President of the Canadian Region of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Chairman of the Calgary Rabbinical Council. From 2000-2004, Rabbi Jordan left the pulpit and took a position as the Executive Director of the Hillel-Jewish Student Center at Cal State Northridge (CSUN). In 2004, he returned to the pulpit and since has served for five years at Temple Kol Ami in Scottsdale, Arizona, eleven years at Congregation B’nai Israel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and five years at Har Sinai Temple in Pennington, New Jersey.
Rabbi Jordan is married to Beth Warren and is the proud father of two grown children, Tali and Gabe. Rabbi and Beth are thrilled to be a part of the TBI family and look forward to sharing in the lives of people in this wonderful community.
